Michele Verma is a cultural anthropologist by training who specializes in the cultures of South Asia and the  Caribbean with a  focus on religion and education. Her research examines the transformation of Hinduism in its movement from India to the Caribbean  and from the Caribbean to the United States. At the University of Houston, she has offered courses on Hinduism, the Hindu diaspora, Asian religions and cultural anthropology.
