Financial Assistance

Beatrice and Jesse Mladenka-Fowler Scholarship

The Mladenka-Fowler Scholarship is made possible by a generous gift to CCS. The scholarship offers financial assistance to full-time UH undergraduate students who encounter unforeseen economic hardships that might otherwise oblige them to withdraw from full-time progress towards graduation.

Guidelines

  • Priority given to first-generation college students, qualified for in-state tuition;
  • Enrolled full-time and in “Good Academic Standing” with a minimum of 90 completed credit hours at the beginning of the semester for which the Scholarship is sought;

  • On track to complete all requirements for graduation within two semesters or an otherwise reasonable time frame from the beginning of the semester for which the Scholarship is sought;

  • Priority given to majors in the Liberal Studies program, but all majors housed within the Department of Comparative CulturalStudies (CCS) are eligible to apply, and in exceptional cases, other majors in CLASS may also be given consideration;

  • Qualified for Financial Aid, with priority given to demonstrated, unanticipated short-term financial hardship.
