AFRICANA AESTHETICS: African Americans in Film, Media, and Communications Conference

The University of Houston’s African American Studies Program hosted Africana Aesthetics: Blacks in Film, Media, and Communications Conference, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Harris County Board of Education Building. The Plenary Session featured: M.K. Asante, Award Winning Filmmaker and Best Selling Author; Charnele Brown, Actress and Producer; and Fred Thomas, R & B Divas Reality Show Producer. The conference also included paper presentations on sub topics themes, which address both cultural and structural approaches to the study of Africana Aesthetics phenomena internationally. Attendees included: University of Houston students; faculty; staff; Houston Arts Community leaders, and Prairie View A&M University Mass Communications students.
