AAS Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series
The purpose of the AAS Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series is to introduce current AAS minors to a network of like-minded, problem-solving leaders working in the communities and professional fields they seek to improve and advance. Each year, AAS invites two to three alumni to speak based on several factors, including their current level of involvement and communication with the program. The series identifies outstanding alumni who are making exceptional achievements and contributions to local, state, regional, national and international affairs, or raising critical insights into contemporary challenges facing people of African descent through artistic or humanistic inquiry within their professional research initiatives or advanced graduate studies. In addition to these stated goals, the relationships and networks formed through the speaker series expose current minors to the possible challenges, career paths and entrepreneurship opportunities that await them upon graduation.
