DACA Clinic

Saturday, November 9, 2013 11 am - 2 pm

We are holding this DACA Clinic to assist UH students and local high school students in filling out their DACA applications, as many have not and are missing out on the wonderful opportunities that DACA allows undocumented students to seek. To give you a little bit of background on DACA, certain people who came to the United States as children and meet several key guidelines may request consideration of deferred action for a period of two years, subject to renewal, and would then be eligible for work authorization. Deferred action does not provide an individual with lawful status. DACA allows certain undocumented youth to integrate into society by obtaining employment authorization and a Social Security Number, which then opens the doors to getting a driver's license and start credit history. Unfortunately, for various reasons, less than 50% of those eligible have applied. It is our mission to change this and provide the empowerment to these UH students that comes with having a DACA application approved. l
