Supports middle school students who have an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and introduces them to college life. Taught by award winning faculty at the University of Houston. Students must be entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of 2014. Also available are: Pre-Academy Activities (8:00a.m.—10:00a.m.): $50.00/week Post-Academy Activities (3:00p.m.—5:00p.m.): $50.00/week. Application deadline is April 25.
Two-week residential camp sponsored by The Harris Foundation (THF), in partnership with the ExxonMobil Foundation. The camp is open to promising middle school students and provides opportunities to enhance their proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education while living on a college campus - all at no cost to the child or family. Scholarships applicants should apply by the April 4 deadline.
The 29th annual university-wide election for Staff Council representatives is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, and Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Voting will be conducted online at http://election.uh.edu between 6:00 a.m. on July 22 and 5:00 p.m. on July 23. Two public polling stations will be available on Tuesday, July 22, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at University Center (UC), South Building, Lobby Near Entrance, and Ezekiel W. Cullen Building, First Floor Lobby.
The University of Houston Libraries now offers a series of technology training courses open to all UH students, faculty and staff. Courses cover Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and content are tailored for basic, intermediate and advanced skill levels. More courses will be added to the rotation, including training on software such as Outlook, iMovie, Live Movie Maker, InDesign and other commonly-used programs. Sessions run for 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the topic and skill level, and most sessions will take place in the Learning Commons training areas.
