AURA - Memory Web

Thursday, March 9, 2017 8 pm - 10 pm

Memory Web is a multifaceted performance created by UH’s contemporary AURA ensemble in collaboration with Psophonia Dance Company. The performance explores how episodic memory—an individual’s subjective recollection of an event—shapes long-term memory. Memories from the vantage point of victims, witnesses, advocates, and liberated individuals will be presented through spoken word, dance, and music, inviting the audience to contemplate the beliefs and actions of others.

The performance features music by Doolittle, HK Lee, B Reynolds, Rzewski, and Van Brink.

Rob Smith serves as Director of the AURA Ensemble, with Alejandro Basulto-Martinez in the role of Assistant Director. Sophia Torres serves as Director of Psophonia Dance Company. Memory Web is a recipient of the 2016-2017 Cynthia Woods Mitchell Innovation Grant.
