Interpreting for Social Justice workshop: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
This free workshop is open to the public, and intended particularly for interpreters and anyone interested in learning more about interpreting in a social justice context. It is designed to develop a more-in-depth understanding of basic principles of language justice and to examine some key strategies for creating well-functioning multilingual space. Specifically, we will work on some guidelines and strategies for interpretation and we will present and practice basic interpreting techniques, both consecutive and simultaneous. To participate in this workshop, you should have ability in English and at least one other language. Taller: Interpretación para la justicia social Este taller gratuito está abierto al público, y dirigido particularmente a intérpretes y cualquier persona que tenga interés en aprender más acerca de la interpretación en el contexto de la justicia social. Fue diseñado para desarrollar un entendimiento más profundo de los principios básicos de la justicia del lenguaje y para examinar algunas estrategias claves para la creación de un espacio multilingüe funcional. Específicamente, elaboraremos algunas pautas y estrategias para la interpretación y presentaremos y practicaremos las técnicas básicas de la interpretación, tanto consecutiva como simultánea. Para participar en este taller, debes tener capacidad para hablar y entender inglés y por lo menos un idioma más. 

Antena is a language justice and language experimentation collaborative founded in 2010 by Jen Hofer and John Pluecker, both of whom are writers, artists, literary translators, bookmakers and activist interpreters. FromJ anuary 18 – May 10, 2014, Antena will be in residence at Blaffer, where they will inhabit various spaces of the museum to explore how critical views on language can help us to reimagine and rearticulate the worlds we live in.
