Cadet Emiliano Gonzalez is a "rising firstie" or going into his senior year at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He spent the past few weeks interning with the BTI Institute as part of our Homeland Security Intern program. Gonzalez is a political science major who was very interested in the interagency coordination involved with the Department of Homeland Security. 

This summer, he conducted research through doctrinal and literature reviews of incidents from an intelligence and investigative standpoint of mass shooting and terrorist attack incidents. From this review, he gleaned pertinent recommendations that were combined into an action plan and synchronization matrix that will be applied to regional jurisdictions to improve their planned response processes and resourcing 

"Much of what I will do as a young officer is create plans from synthesized information and available resources," Gonzalez said.
