United States Coast Guard Academy Cadet Matthew Nagle participated in the BTI Institute 2018 Homeland Security Summer Internship program that aligned military academy cadets with relevant research initiatives within the Department of Homeland Security. 

Cadet Nagle is a First Class or rising senior at the Coast Guard Academy. He is a government and policy major and plays lacrosse on the Academy's team. 

Cadet Nagle focused on the Operational Communications aspect of a regional response to a Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack. This involved a deep dive into current doctrine and after-action reviews from recent mass shooter incidents.
