| New Blackboard Users | | | | | | UH has two Blackboard systems for Spring 2013, with most using Blackboard Learn and some still using Blackboard Vista. Blackboard Learn and Blackboard Vista are separate systems with different usernames and passwords. But, both can be accessed with a single log in at AccessUH.
New instructors must work with their department office to get their PeopleSoft ID, CougarNet ID, and to get access to Blackboard.
GETTING STARTED
Go to AccessUH, to get access to both UH Blackboard systems with one log in - either your myUH (PeopleSoft) login or your CougarNet login. You will only be able to see the system(s) where your courses are.
- To find out where your course is, check the Blackboard Course/Section Finder.
- Don't know your PeopleSoft ID or your CougarNet ID? Look it up at AccessUH or contact Support as shown below.
- Passwords - Once you have your CougarNet ID, you should go to Computer Account Management Password Reset to get your initial password or to reset your password.
- There are no default passwords for CougarNet accounts.
- To reset your Blackboard Learn password, reset your CougarNet password.
- To reset your Blackboard Vista password, reset your Blackboard Vista password.
- Be sure to use a strong password.
- Passwords cannot contain your CougarNet ID, first, middle, or last names.
- Allow 10-15 minutes for the password reset to take effect.
- Passwords are case sensitive.
- All passwords expire every 90 days.

BLACKBOARD LEARN
If using Respondus Lockdown Browser or otherwise not using AccessUH, go to https://www.uh.edu/blackboard and click on the white Blackboard Learn button.
- Your Blackboard Learn user name is your Cougarnet ID and your password is your CougarNet password.
- To reset your Blackboard Learn password, select your CougarNet account.
- If you fail to log in successfully after 3 tries, you will be locked out of the account for 30 minutes.
- Wait 30 minutes before you try again.
- Resetting your password will NOT restart the 30 minutes.
BLACKBOARD VISTA
If not using AccessUH, go to https://www.uh.edu/blackboard and click on the blue Blackboard Vista button.
- Your Blackboard Vista user name is your 7-digit myUH PeopleSoft ID.
- First time Vista users - Your initial password format is your 6-digit birthdate as mmddyyx! where x is the first initial of last name in your lower case, followed by an exclamation point.
- On first log in, a Password Change screen will pop up in Vista. You will have to change your password and log in again with the new password.
- Returning Vista users - Your password is whatever you last used.
- If you don't remember your password and you are a current UH student, faculty, or staff, you can request a password reset online anytime from Computer Account Management OR by contacting Support as shown below.
- Allow 10-15 minutes for the password reset to take effect.
