Maria Honey
Marketing Manager
How long have you been working at UH? 10 years
What is the scope of what you do on campus?  My role is a combination of communications, marketing, event planning and community outreach. I am involved in writing press releases, creating promotional materials, coordinating special events and activities, developing surveys and making presentations to students, faculty, and staff. Much of what I do, I had to learn by just diving in and doing it. My background is in graphic production and printing so I feel very comfortable creating material like flyers, posters, brochures, and advertising. But with the writing, event planning, and surveys, I just had to close my eyes, jump in, and make it happen. I think things have turned out well though. I’ve been fortunate to be part of many successful university programs and that makes me proud to be working at my alma mater. This department has not failed in keeping my job fresh and exciting.
What is the best thing about being a UH employee? Honestly it is the environment. It is wonderful to work in a place that is always wanting to improve the quality of service to our customer, the students. The students are the reason why I come to work every day. I think we are an exceptional school that is typically underrated. It is our job as employees to change that perception. Go Coogs!
