International Students

The additional requirements can be found at the Undergraduate Application Guide for international applicants.

Portfolio/Supplementary Materials

Although it is not required, all applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a portfolio upon applying. Given the competitive admissions process, a portfolio can help sway the admissions committee decision to demonstrate the applicant’s abilities and understanding of the subject.

The portfolio:

•    No larger than 8.5" x 11" and 1" thick.

•    Include any form of design or creative works including, but not limited to: drawing, sketching, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, or creative writing.

•    Include only reproductions of work (scans, photocopies, photographs, etc.). Please, do not submit your original works.

•    Securely bound (no loose sheets).

•    Clearly labeled with the applicant’s name, myUH ID, and contact information (address, e-mail, phone number, etc). No Social Security Numbers should be included.

•    Optional letters of recommendation, letters of intent, and awards or prizes won in competition can be included.

The portfolio should have a self-addressed stamped envelope if the applicant wants it returned. Otherwise, the College of Architecture and Design will contact applicants to inform them when the portfolio can be retrieved. If applicants do not retrieve their portfolios, the portfolios will be destroyed.

Application Status

Applicants can check the status of their application by logging into myUH to verify information.

Applicants will need to retrieve a myUH number, issued by the University upon applying and set a password. If applicants have difficulties logging in, UH Information Technology can be contacted at support@uh.edu or by calling 713-743-1411.
