Activities Funding Board

Application Process
  1. AFB allocates funds only to registered student organizations (not individuals). Funding is for two areas
    • Programs on the UH campus
    • Attending conferences off-campus
Student organizations must be registered with the Department of Campus Activities in order to apply for and receive funding. The AFB Allocation Request form must be typed, submitted, and heard at least 4 weeks before the conference/program.
  2. All allocation requests must be reviewed by a Campus Activities Advisor (Advisor On Call) before being submitted to AFB. The organization's student representative must be present for this review. Do not "drop off" your request without having it reviewed and signed by the Advisor On-Call. This will delay your funding request being heard. The schedule is posted at the front desk of Campus Activities (51 University Center Underground, 713-743-5180).
  3. In order for a budget to be heard the following week, it must be turned in no later than 5:00 p.m. the Monday before the meeting. A maximum of 8 budgets will be heard per meeting on a first come, first served basis.
  4. An authorized student representative from the organization must attend an AFB hearing to present the Allocation Request to AFB. This person must be knowledgeable about the program or conference. If information is inaccurate and/or inadequate, AFB may deny the request or table it (to be reheard the following week, time permitting). Meetings are held weekly in the UC. Check the AFB Agenda at the Campus Activities Front Desk for the schedule.
  5. The authorized student representatives from the organizations must meet with the AFB Financial Officer two class days after the hearing to receive AFB's decision and if approved for funding, to sign a Notice of Award. If the Notice of Award is not signed within the specified time, the allocation may be voided.
  6. If a program is approved for funding, all on-campus publicity (ads, flyers, handbills, and programs) must have the AFB logo on it.
  7. Once an Allocation Request has been approved for a particular program or conference, a student organization cannot reapply for additional AFB funds for the same program or conference.
