SAMs For Interim Approval for the 4th Quarter, Fiscal Year 2013

The following SAMs have been submitted for Interim approval for Quarter 4, FY 2013.  To review the proposed changes, please select each policy name to view the linked document.


The column titled "Proposed Changes" briefly explains the updates that have been submitted for Interim approval.

SAM 01.D.08 - Sexual Misconduct Policy
(Interim 2)
This SAM will be submitted for Interim 2 approval and will be part of the
Quarter 4, FY 2013 review cycle.

Added information to Section 1.2 on educational programs. Added Campus SaVE Act statement to Section 1.5. Revised Section 2.4 definition for "Student." Added additional parameters of Sexual Misconduct to Section 3. Revised Section 4 to be consistent with the Dear Colleague Letter. The web site definition for consent was added to Section 5.1, and the web site definition for sexual assault was added to Section 6.1. Sections 6.5 through 6.7 were added with information from the Campus SaVE Act. Added
Section 8, Risk Reduction Strategies, including documentation on bystander intervention from the Campus SaVe Act. Information on confidentiality and services available to victims was added to Section 9 from the Campus SaVE Act. Added "Order of Protection" phrase to Section 10 from the Campus SaVE Act. Documentation on EOS investigator training was added to Section 12.3. Added Section 12.6.4. Added information on Board training to Section 13.7. A brief opening statement for hearings was added to Section 13.9.1.a. Added documentation on reporting offenses off campus to Section 14.3. Added information to Section 14.5 on notification of outcomes from the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 and the Campus SaVE Act.

SAM 01.D.09 - Student Academic Adjustments/Auxiliary Aids Policy
(Interim)

Revised August 12, 2013.

This SAM will be submitted for Interim approval and will be part of the
Quarter 4, FY 2013 review cycle.

Added Section 2.6 on ADA/504 Coordinator, and added this position to text as applicable. In Section 4.2, changed "Suggests" to "Requires." Changed Section 5.1.2 to two business days before the meeting, and added a web site on student meetings. Changed title of Academic Adjustments/Auxiliary Aids Request Form throughout text and in Section 5.2. Changed Section 5.3.3 to five business days for reviewing the student's file. Added information to Section 5.5.1 on the instructor/official decision. Added information on notification of denial of request within five business days to Section 5.5.3. Changed Section 5.6 from "Student Appeals" to "Appeals." Revised process for appeals in Sections 5.6.1. Changed Section 5.6.10 concerning notification of an attorney's appearance during a student appeal.
