Property Management Responsibilities

Property Custodian

  • Each department is required to assign a person from within the department as property custodian.

Property Custodian Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with SAM 03.E.02—Property Management and MAPP 03.03.03—Maintenance and Control Responsibilities, department property custodians are responsible for ensuring that a tag with a unique identification number is affixed to each item of capital equipment.

  • Property custodians should ensure that a request for an Annual Certification for Property Located Off Campus be completed prior to removal of property.

  • Each fiscal year, property custodians are responsible for requiring that a renewal of the Annual Certification for Property Located Off Campus be completed and signed by the Property Manager for property that is taken off campus.

  • Property custodians are responsible for completing the annual property inventory
