TOWN HALLS: UNPRECEDENTED CHANGES MAKING STUDENT EXPERIENCE BETTER
The University of Houston experienced an unprecedented
level of change this past year in dining and housing —
all aimed at improving the college experience for students.
Those accomplishments were spelled out during the annual
Food Services and Student Housing town hall meetings.
GO TEXAN DAY COMING SOON TO FRESH FOOD COMPANY
Students, faculty and staff can get mentally ready
for the rodeo by enjoying a special themed lunch menu
on March 4 that will include sausage, brisket, okra
and chipotle macaroni and cheese.
STUDENT SERVICE PLAZA GETS FOUNTAIN REFRESH
The Student Service Plaza fountain was initially
drained due to the unusually cold weather experienced
this winter. Plans were then made to remove leaves,
power wash the interior and sides and put it back in service.
PLANT OPERATIONS SUSTAINABILITY TEAM HARD AT WORK
The Plant Operations Sustainability Team, which has
representation from both Facilities Management and
Facilities Planning and Construction, met this week
and provided updates on departmental sustainability
initiatives currently underway.
CAMPUS LANDSCAPE RESTORED THROUGH PLANTING AND PRUNING
Facilities Management grounds and landscape crews are busy
with numerous projects to help restore the campus environment
from the effects of the harsh winter and make it ready for the

The dining outlet, which is located in the UC Satellite,

The UH community can come hear what the next academic year will bring
for food service and student housing during two upcoming town halls
set for Thursday, Feb. 20, from 6 to 7 p.m., and Friday, Feb. 21,
from noon to 1 p.m., in the private dining area of the Fresh Food
Company in Moody Towers.

A new report shows college campuses are leading the trend toward
more transportation options for its commuters, and the University
of Houston is among them.

UH Dining Services and Dietitian Sarah Feye will be hosting a
special heart healthy lunch at the Fresh Food Co. in Moody
Towers on Feb. 14.
CELBRATE MARDI GRAS AT COUGAR WOODS
UH Dining will be offering a special themed dinner
menu on Feb. 11, and will also allow students to decorate
their own Mardi Gras masks during the annual celebration.
GETTING HELP WITH A FACILITIES ISSUE JUST A TEXT AWAY
Text messaging can be used for reporting many situations, such as
a room being too hot or too cold, plumbing leaks, broken windows,
an inoperative handicap automatic door opener and pest-control
issues like mosquitos, bees and wasps.
UH DINING NAMES NEW HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
Curtis Snell will be in charge of human resources for
the University of Houston, UH-Downtwon, UH-Clear Lake,
UH-Victoria and Victoria College.
TILE MURALS FIND NEW HOME AT COUGAR VILLAGE II
The unnamed pieces by artist Malou Flato had flanked the
exterior of the old Cougar Place residential facility since
1985 until they were removed and stored two years ago.
PLANNED ELECTRICAL OUTAGES SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 14-15
Necessary repairs to the electrical distribution system will
be made during this time after lightning struck one of the
utility poles for the Cougar 2 primary feeder last month.
UH DINING MIXES CHICKEN NUGGETS AND ENTERTAINMENT
Cougar Woods Dining Hall will host Nugget and Bingo Night
on Thursday, Feb. 6, during the dinner hours. It will include
a special themed menu as well as a bingo game.
