Auxiliary Services will celebrate the start of construction of the University of Houston’s new retail food building, The Hub, with a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, April 22 at 11 am.

The Hub will replace the old Satellite building. Once completed, it will be a two-story, 41,000-square-foot facility that will feature four yet-to-be-announced food concepts, a convenience store, and a coffee establishment.

Attendees will hear from key campus constituents and student representatives about what The Hub means to them. The design and construction team will also speak on the process to create a progressive and creative new space.

The Hub will feature indoor and outdoor seating, including a second-floor patio, and will accommodate up to 400 customers.

Both the Auxiliary Services administrative offices and the Cougar Card Office will relocate to The Hub upon completion.  A satellite package delivery/pickup space is also slated to occupy space.

Discussion and planning for The Hub started in 2018 with a planned opening estimated to be in 2024.
