Houston, April 3, 2015 — University of Houston student Carlos Leal is the winner of the #UHRecycleMania Spring Break Challenge.

During spring break, which ran from March 13 through March 22, UH students, faculty, staff and alumni were invited to upload photos via Twitter and explain how they were having a zero-waste spring break.

Leal tweeted a photo of himself placing a plastic bottle into a campus Big Belly recycling container. It received the most retweets and favorites and was deemed the winning entry. As a result, he won a free Zipcar membership, complete with a $50 driving credit.

The #UHRecycleMania Spring Break Challenge was one of many events and activities organized by the UH Office of Sustainability that took place across the UH campus in February and March as part of RecycleMania.
