Lane Shift Scheduled as Part of Cullen Boulevard Project

Houston, July 17, 2014 — A major traffic lane shift will take place Monday, July 21, as work continues on the Cullen Boulevard improvement project.

The project, which is being undertaken by the city of Houston, involves replacing sections of concrete from Elgin to Wheeler on both the southbound and northbound lanes.

The two southbound lanes have been closed for the past two months. During that time, southbound traffic was diverted to one of the two northbound lanes.

On Monday, the refurbished southbound lanes will re-open and the northbound lanes will close between Elgin and Wheeler. Motorists are urged to use extra caution when navigating the roadway and to be aware of pedestrians crossing the street. Sidewalks may also be impacted.

The project is expected to continue through mid-August and be completed in time for the start of the fall semester.
