Houston, Sept. 9, 2015 — As a show of support for fallen Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Darren Goforth, members of the University of Houston Department of Public Safety gathered for a moment of silence on Friday, Sept. 4.

The UH Police Department, Emergency Management, and Environmental Health and Life Safety's personnel came together at 11 a.m. outside of the police department. Besides recognizing the moment of silence, emergency lights were activated on vehicles.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott requested that residents turn their headlights on at 11 a.m. Friday for one minute, and requested law enforcement officials to turn their police lights during that time as well. He said it is a show of support for all those who wear the uniform.
