Volunteers Needed to Help at Upcoming Finals Mania

Houston, Nov. 17, 2016 —The call has gone out for faculty and staff to assist with Finals Mania, a biannual tradition that provides students a much-needed break from preparing for final exams.

The fun-filled event will take place Monday, Dec. 5, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion in the M.D. Anderson Library. Around 1,700 students are expected to come that night for a plate of pancakes and turkey sausage, as well as coffee and orange juice.

Volunteer opportunities include a wide range of roles, such as distributing meal tickets to students, assisting with volunteer check-in, manning beverage stations, clearing trash and greeting students.

Those who would like to volunteer can click here to review a complete list of the roles that are available before choosing the one that interests them. Signing up is quick and easy to do.

"This is a fun and exciting event that students truly enjoy," said Leighanne Dean, Auxiliary Services marketing coordinator. "Our volunteers range from current faculty and staff to retired employees and their loved ones. The engagement and interaction with the students and volunteers is what makes this a rewarding experience for everyone."
