When a disaster strikes, the first thing people do is reach for their cell phone. What if there is no power? What if the cell phone isn’t fully charged? What happens when the contacts on the cell phone can’t be accessed?
This is when preparedness skills kick in. People don’t realize how much information is stored in their phones until they can’t access it when needed.
The University of Houston Office of Emergency Management tells people not to wait to be prepared. Check out FEMA’s fillable wallet card. Spending a few minutes now to fill in a few phone numbers of family or friends is one of the keys to preparedness.
