Meet the new staff members in Plant Operations
Edgar Banda - Facilities Space Coordinator Edgar Banda received his bachelor's degree in Architecture from UH in May of 2012. During school, he worked as a student in Facilities Planning and Construction from December 2010 to June 2012 and he joined the FPC staff full-time in July 2013 as a Facilities Space Coordinator. His job consists of assisting with the annual institutional space utilization survey, maintaining floor plans drawings, conducting facility condition assessment walk-throughs, and space reporting. Sarah Borders - Web Developer III
Sarah Borders comes to Plant Operations from the Houston Public Library, where she spent more than seven years discovering and developing her passion and affinity for web development. She's a UH alumna, earning her bachelor's degree in Classical Studies - she earned her master's degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas. As Web Developer III for Plant Operations, Sarah is responsible for managing the plantops website which includes creating new pages, updating existing pages, and complying with university web design standards, managing the plantops SharePoint site, and special projects. Ali Muhammad - User Services Specialist 3
Ali Muhammad is the new Plant Operations User Server Specialist 3. He is currently working on his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Math and anticipates graduation in December 2014. Ali brings 11 years of UH experience in the IT field, most recently in the UH Consistency Management and Cooperative Discipline Program. Sandra KitManYen - HR/Payroll Coordinator 2
Sandra KitManYen grew up in New York and moved to Houston in 2004. Sandra has worked for the for-profit education industry for the past seven years where she served as Executive Assistant and HR/Payroll liaison at the Houston campus for Alta Colleges. She has over twenty years of experience in administration. She earned her bachelor's of science degree in Organizational Leadership from Mercy College in New York in 2002 and her master's in Business Administration from Texas Woman's University in 2011. She is passionate about education and learning and she loves to read motivational books, exercise and dance. She and her husband have a son. Cynthia King - HR/Payroll Coordinator 2
Cynthia King is a native Houstonian and refers to herself as a true Texan. She began her career at the University of Houston in March 2004 as a HR Customer Service Specialist working in the Administration and Finance Customer Service Center. Under Administration and Finance, she has worked in the department of Plant Operations in Facilities Planning and Construction, Facilities Management, and Business Services holding several key positions. Prior to that, Cynthia enjoyed a 28 year banking career. She is an avid gardener, loves to read, sew, travel, going to jazz venues and most of all, she loves spending as much time as possible with her wonderful family and friends. Erika Diaz - HR/Payroll Coordinator 1
Erika Diaz is the newest member of the Plant Operations HR staff team - she is currently attending Kaplan University online, working towards an associate degree in Paralegal Studies. She looks forward to continuing her education at the University of Houston. Over the past two years she has been employed in the education environment, and she states it is an honor to be a part of this "magnificent HR/Payroll team"!
