Call2Recycle Program Recycles Batteries on Campus
The University of Houston
has recently begun a recycling
program on campus for rechargeable
batteries and cell phones.
Partnering with Call2Recycle, a
program of the Rechargeable Battery
Recycling Corporation (RBRC), UH is
able to offer free battery and cell
phone recycling on campus.
Recyclers must simply place a
battery or cell phone in a plastic
bag provided at the front of the
box, seal the bag, and place it
inside the box. A limit of one
battery per bag is permitted.
Acceptable rechargeable batteries
(each weighing less than 11 lbs)
include the following:
Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd)
Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)
Lithium Ion (Li-Ion)
Nickel Zinc (Ni-Zn)
Small Sealed Lead Acid (SSLA/Pb)
Cell phones (and their batteries)
are also accepted, regardless of
size, make, model or age.
Boxes will be provided on campus at
the following locations:
• Faculty Senate Office, Third floor
of M.D. Anderson Library
• University Center
• Quadrangle OB Lobby
• Technology College, Dean’s Office
• Engineering College, Dean’s Office
• General Services Building
• Administration & Finance, Office
of Dr. Carlucci, E. Cullen 226
• Library Lobby
• Cougar Card Office
The University of Houston is pleased
to provide another means of
promoting sustainability and wise
use (and reuse) of resources. And,
as the recycling program states,
“Call2Recycle applauds you for
taking a proactive role in the
preservation of our environment.
Together, we can Recharge the
Planet.”
