Hurricane Season Here We Come

The Department of Public Safety’s Emergency Management Bureau is preparing for the upcoming hurricane season. Along with publishing the 72-Hour Emergency Campus/Travel Preparedness Kit Checklist, coordinating the ride out teams and credentials, completing a table top exercise and incorporating the community into our plans for emergency response, the emergency management team is ready for activation. Joe Mendez, Emergency Management Director, stated “We are ready to go.” Mr. Mendez’s enthusiasm has helped jump start the hurricane season to a new level for the University of Houston. Being prepared is the key. For more information, visit the website at For additional information and questions, please contact Joe Mendez at
