As the UH Policies and Procedures World Turns…

The Policies and Procedures Website Is Changing

The UH Policies and Procedures website is undergoing a facelift to better serve all users and visitors. After much work and research by Amy Iverson (web developer extraordinaire), the proposed website is more straightforward, using tabs and drop-down menus for information to keep the main website area clear for current documentation on SAMs and MAPPs. The archive information, once located down the front of the main website page, is now located on a tab for easier viewing. The current SAMs and MAPPs in draft, review and approval cycles are now displayed on the main website page for central viewing.

We are very interested in your feedback on the various changes that have been made. Please e-mail your suggestions and feedback to Peggy Levy, Policies and Procedures Coordinator, at, or call 713-743-6885.

The Revision Log … News You Can Use

Current revision information is documented in the footer of each SAM and MAPP. Unfortunately, once a document has been revised at least once, the previous revision information is lost in the footer, since the footer carries only the original date and the current revision date.

The solution to this problem is a revision log. A revision log is a tracking mechanism used for Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) documentation to maintain document history standards. Many businesses in the public and private sectors use revision logs to maintain higher standards for their documentation and provide auditors with easier access to historical information.

Revision logs will be placed at the end of each SAM and MAPP being approved beginning in Quarter 1, 2011, and will be added to each document as revisions take place. An example of a revision log is located below:
