The University of Houston Police Department has promoted Russell Miller to police captain.
Miller began his law-enforcement career in 1990 with the Houston Police Department. While working at HPD, he received promotions and many commendations. After working at HPD for over 24 years, he retired this past February. In March, he joined UHPD as a lieutenant and has proven himself to be a strong officer and leader during that time.
With his family standing nearby, Miller’s promotion to captain officially was recognized Nov. 6 during a badge-pinning ceremony. The honor of pinning his new badge on him was held by his son.
Miller will now serve the department as the captain of the field operations unit.
