OFFICE OF ADMINISTRATION PREPARES FOR FALL SEMESTER
Throughout the summer, the Office of Administration is gearing
up to welcome back students and prepare for the new academic
year. This summer, a team of representatives have prepared a
plan of administration milestones to track progress and
enhancements to services within parking, dining, facilities
maintenance and construction services.
The Office of Administration is hard at work this summer
completing major projects such as the opening of the stadium
garage, parking lot maintenance and many renovation and
construction projects on campus. Facilities Management is
currently working on a holistic project that will include a
classroom make-ready services and a general campus clean up;
this project will include replacing many whiteboards and
chalkboards throughout campus, deep classroom cleaning, light
bulb replacements and fixture cleaning, painting exterior rails
and fencing, and a general campus cleanup and repairs related to
fountains, and landscaping – all to be ready for the start of
the new academic year. Also, Parking and Transportation is
performing parking lot maintenance as well as preparing a new
lot at Melcher Hall.
At the new stadium parking garage, the team is getting ready for
the opening of customer service areas and retail spaces. The
retail spaces will include a Taco Cabana, a Cougar Xpress
convenience store and new UH fan shop. Also, construction
mobilization is under way for the UC transformation project and
mobilization for the next parking garage at lot 1A will soon
follow.
“Getting ready for the fall is something that the Office of
Administration takes very seriously and works collaboratively on
with other departments on campus. From cleaning up the campus to
posting additional signage so students feel welcomed and at ease
the first day of school. Our students are our priority,” said
Maria Honey, Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications
for University Services and Residential Life & Housing.
