Call goes out for volunteers to help at upcoming Finals Mania

When Finals Mania was held at the end of the fall semester, more than 1,700 students attended.

That figure was a record for the event, which has taken place at the end of the fall and spring semesters since its inception in 2008 to provide a break for students as they prepare for final exams.

This past fall's event ran smoothly and went off without any major glitches. The reason why? A small army of dedicated and caring staff and faculty volunteered their time and energy.

Finals Mania is scheduled to once again take place on Tuesday, April 29, from 8:30 to 11 p.m. in the Rockwell Pavilion at the M.D. Anderson Library. The call has already gone out for volunteers to once again sign up.

"We are so glad and thankful for those individuals who have pitched in every semester to see that this event is a success," said Maria Honey assistant director of marketing and communications for Auxiliary Services. "We'd also love to see new faces come out and have fun while providing a much-needed break for students."

Even more students are expected to show up for this event to be served pancakes, turkey sausage, coffee, orange juice and a variety of snacks.

Volunteers are needed to do everything from greeting people as they come through the door all the way up to making and serving pancakes. They are also needed to help direct the lines of students waiting to be served and to make sure everything remains orderly. Beverage stations need to be manned and meal tickets have to be handed out.
