Summer meal plans coming to UH this summer
University of Houston Dining Services is proud to announce that it will offer summer meal plans for students during the 2013 summer session.

The new summer meal plans are being offered in response to students’ requests for discounts and convenience on campus during the summer. Summer meal plans will run for the entire four summer sessions from Monday, June 3, through Monday, Aug. 5.

With the university striving to gain Tier One recognition, the student population has increased dramatically, thus increasing the number of summer student enrollment from 14,685 in 2010 to 15,101 in 2012 – a 3.5 percent increase. The larger student enrollment requires additional affordable dining options.

With meal plans students can enjoy affordable hassle-free dining options.

“Summer meal plans will extend the value already found in the dining halls and retail areas,” said Maria Honey, Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications, University Services and Housing. “Not to mention the convenience of having the meal plan on their Cougar Card, which allows them to track their meal swipes and Cougar Cash. With a meal plan, there is no need to charge their credit card or to have cash on hand.”

UH Dining is offering three different block meal plans: Block 20, Block 40 and Block 80. The Block 20 plan gives students 20 all-you-care-to-eat meals and $50 in Cougar Cash. The Block 40 includes 40 all-you-care-to-eat meals and $100 in Cougar Cash. The Block 80 gives students the most for their money with 80 all-you-care-to-eat meals and $150 in Cougar Cash.

Meals can be used Monday through Sunday at the Fresh Food Company in Moody Towers for breakfast and lunch. The hall also will be open for dinner during orientations and high traffic dates. For a complete list of station options and hours of operation, visit the UH Dining website.

Cougar Cash is redeemable in all other UH Dining locations that are open during the summer including the University Satellite, Food Trucks, Einstein’s, Taco Cabana and Cougar Xpress Markets.

Additionally, students can purchase one of four pre-set Cougar Cash plans: $300, $500, $800 and $1,000. Cougar Cash earns a 10 percent discount at the Fresh Food Company in Moody Towers and can be used at the retail venues around campus.
