UH Office Equipment Freecycle

As part of the Earth Day celebration on Thursday April 22nd, 2010, a freecycle event will be held in the Lone Star room of the University Center from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Items that can be brought, swapped, and found are:
• UH owned printers
• UH owned computers
• Pictures of UH owned office furniture

What Should I Bring?
Your Cougar Card, equipment, pictures of office furniture, appropriate forms (details on specific requirements for different types of equipment below), and possibly your departmental property custodian.

How Do I Bring Stuff?
Tagged equipment (computers and printers) MUST have a PRP-1A form attached, filled out with all information and signatures except the “Move To” location and department. Due to requirements for tracking state owned capital and controlled equipment, tagged equipment without this form attached and completed cannot be accepted.

To help other areas determine if they can use the computers, please attach a card or piece of paper with the year purchased, operating system, and any information available on the hard drive size and speed, processor speed, RAM, video cards, etc.

Untagged printers can be brought without a PRP-1A form, but please bring your Cougar Card to help validate that the equipment is university owned.

Due to space constraints, only pictures of office furniture can be accepted. Bring your pictures of office furniture that you no longer need and post them on the wall with 1 or 2 index cards (or business cards) that contain your contact information.

How Do I Get Stuff?
Untagged printers can be taken with you; just show your Cougar Card to the Property Management personnel on site.

Tagged computers and printers will be reviewed by Property Management personnel, who will be onsite, to ensure that the PRP-1A form is completed. This is just a matter of filling in your new planned location, department ID, and department Property Custodian signature. If you are not the Property Custodian for your department, please bring a signed statement from the Property Custodian that you are authorized to pick up the equipment (or bring your Property Custodian). As soon as the form is signed, you can take the computers and printers with you.

Office furniture will be traded by using pictures and contact cards. If you see something you like, take the index card and call the department to arrange for the transfer of furniture.

Can I leave stuff there to pick up later?
All items left at the freecycle will be picked up for transfer to the surplus property warehouse at 4:00 PM on the 22nd, so all items that you want to keep will have to be picked up prior to 4:00 p.m.
