THE GOLDEN ARCHES ARE COMING TO CAMPUS
It’s
official! The golden arches will be coming to campus when the
University Center re-opens in 2013.
After conducting the MarketMatch student survey during the fall
semester, UH Dining Services saw that students wanted a
recognizable national chain on their campus. The data results
overwhelmingly pointed at McDonald’s, a brand that appeals to
most college students.
“We already have very popular burger concepts, but when we did
the surveys a large number of students wrote in to say that they
would prefer McDonald’s to any other brand,” said Misty Pierce,
marketing manager for UH Dining Services. “So we took that data
and worked with a local McDonald’s franchise to deliver on that
request.”
McDonald’s will be located in the University Center food court
along with Chick-fil-A, Panda Express and Starbucks when Phase 1
of the UC transformation project is completed. Freshii, a
custom-built concept serving fresh sandwiches, salads, soups and
fruit, will round out food service at the UC during Phase 2.
“UH Dining Services is proud to add McDonald’s to our portfolio
of brands on the campus,” said UHDS District Manager Tony Urso.
“Our commitment to bringing UH the best dining services has to
offer has just been kicked to a new level by partnering with one
of the greatest retail brands on the planet.”
Executive Director of Auxiliary Services Esmeralda Valdez
agreed, stating “we are very excited about the new partnership
with Mr. Tillman, a UH alum. It is always great when we can
foster connections and collaborations with UH Cougars. Meeting
the food service needs and expectations of our students,
faculty, staff and alumni is vital to the success of our
program, and we believe the food service portfolio developed for
the new UC validates our commitment to providing an exceptional
food service experience.”
