The first Community Emergency Response Team class of 2017 at the University of Houston has graduated.
The final drill for the CERT class took place Friday, March 31, and involved a mock scenario in which a tornado strikes campus. The eight-week class included students, faculty and staff from all areas of campus, with past CERT graduates participating as “victims” of the tornado during the drill.
CERT is a training program that prepares participants to help themselves, their family and their neighbors in the event of a disaster. A new class will be begin during the fall semester. To participate, please contact Valarie Smith at email@example.com.
