Downtown Corridor Construction Update

.

LIGHT RAIL CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN DOWNTOWN

In late April, light rail construction will begin on Capitol, Rusk and San Jacinto streets in Downtown Houston. This work includes the relocation of private utility lines on Capitol from La Branch to Chartres, on Rusk from Fannin to Jackson, and on San Jacinto from Rusk to Capitol. Some lane closures will be required to complete the work. However, at least two lanes of traffic will remain open during construction.

Businesses and residences will remain accessible

Parking lots and garages will remain accessible, though there may be construction occurring nearby

Certain sidewalks and crossings may be closed to ensure your safety. Pedestrian detours will be clearly marked

During construction, please be aware of detour signage and follow accordingly.

Construction has begun on Houston’s new METRORail lines—including one right here in your community. METRO has contracted with Houston Rapid Transit (HRT), a joint venture, to handle all aspects of construction.

We place the highest priority on keeping you informed about construction events. To minimize the disruption of daily life and commerce, we’re doing construction in carefully planned phases to keep traffic flowing.
