UH Community Invited to Upcoming Earth Day Festival

Earth Day 2014

Come learn more about environmental causes and living sustainably during the annual Earth Day Festival at the University of Houston.

This year’s event will take place Tuesday, April 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Lynn Eusan Park.

Sarah Kelly, program manager for the UH Office of Sustainability, said everyone who comes will be able to play games, enjoy refreshments and participate in activities. They will also be given a tote bag with informational materials and will get a T-shirt if they visit all of the booths.

Earth Day 2014

“Earth Day was created to make people more aware of environmental causes and how we can all learn to treat the earth better,” Kelly said. “Our event will be a fun and exciting way for the UH community to accomplish this.”

Various UH departments and outside groups will be in attendance, including Bare Bowls representatives, who will demonstrate healthy eating habits. UH Dining will have a fun activity involving homemade “Earth Day Playdough.” At 12:30 p.m., a weather balloon will be launched.

Water will be available. People can bring their own water bottle or take one provided by the Office of Sustainability. For more information about the event, visit its Facebook page.
