Permit Updates


Update as of 2:00 p.m. August 24: 

In order to allow people more time to build their transportation plan we are extending the grace period that allows those who have not purchased a parking permit to park at Remote Campus through Friday, Aug. 31.

After monitoring lot usage the first several days of class we released more than 1,100 additional permits and will continue to do so as space allows.

Those who are on waitlists will be contacted through email if a permit becomes available to them.


Join the more than 3,000 students on campus already taking advantage of our COAST program! Instead of purchasing a permit, let us cover all or most of your cost of transportation for using METRO buses, light rails and park and rides!

Update as of 12:30 p.m. August 21: 

PERMIT UPDATE FOR WAITLISTED APPLICANTS: As of Tuesday morning we have offered more than 1,000 permits to students on the waitlists for zone, garage and remote campus parking based on first day numbers and observations. 

We have also opened up all waitlists for some zones and garages through AccessUH. We will continue to monitor the situation and offer more permits when space allows.  

Update as of 8:00 a.m. August 22:


Due to a scheduled upgrade of our parking management software on Sunday, August 26th the temporary Cougar Card option for access to the student areas of parking garages will be disabled.  

Therefore, effective Monday, August 27th you will need your parking garage permit to access your garage. If you have not received your permit yet please stop by one of our offices either in the Welcome Center or the Stadium Garage next to Taco Cabana to receive a replacement permit by Monday, August 27th.   

Hands-free access will continue to be available using your EZ Tag but remember that a properly displayed permit is still required.
