Ongoing construction on and around I-45 ramps and access roads near UH has had a negative impact on commuters in the area, including UH’s Cougar Line Shuttle drivers who frequently navigate the congested streets to take University students, faculty and staff back and forth between the main campus and Energy Research Park.
In an effort to decrease the travel time between destinations, both the PGH-ERP and Student Center-ERP routes have been temporarily redirected. The new routes are already live and viewable in DoubleMap, the Cougar Line’s new real-time GPS shuttle tracking application; however, to ensure they are receiving accurate bus locations and trip times, users MUST SELECT routes that indicate they are a “detour.”
In addition to the slightly altered routes, UH shuttles have discontinued the stop at ERP’s Building 1 until further notice.
“We hope these changes have a positive impact on drive times and user experience,” said Eric Holamon, assistant director for customer relations within Parking and Transportation Services. “We’ll continue to monitor conditions in the area and make adjustments to our operations as necessary.”
To help spread the word of this change, as well as share general shuttle and parking information, members of UH’s Parking and Transportation Services Street Team will be out near shuttle stops and on Cougar Line buses during peak times throughout the first two days of the spring semester.
