Cougar Card Office Helps Chartwells Employees Get Settled

The fall 2017 semester was the first full semester for the University of Houston’s new dining partner Chartwells Higher Education. To help the more than 400 new Chartwells employees get settled on campus and service the more than 45,000 new and returning students, the Cougar Card Office extended its normal business hours Oct. 2 through Oct. 13.

“The Cougar Card Office extended its normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for two weeks to accommodate the new Chartwells employees. We wanted to welcome our new UH partner with an excellent experience at the Cougar Card office,” said Tramaine Johnson, manager at the Cougar Card Office. “We provided all of our services, such as issuing new Cougar Cards, replacement Cougar Cards, and answering inquiries via phone, email and at our front counter.”

As with UH students, employees need their Cougar Cards as their campus identification, to access certain buildings and for other important privileges. Because Chartwells dining employees may work shifts beyond the traditional work day, the Cougar Card Office felt it was important to extend its hours to allow these employees more time to obtain their Cougar Cards and to help them with any issues they might encounter while using them.

“I would like to thank the Cougar Card Office for accommodating and working tirelessly with the Chartwells teams to obtain their Cougar Cards,” said Lauren Carrier, human resources manager at Chartwells. “This was huge in our success as a new partner with UH.”

Chartwells employees who did not obtain their Cougar Cards during the initial two-week period can still come by the Cougar Card Office to obtain their Cougar Card and Cougar Card services. The Cougar Card Office has also partnered with the Chartwells HR department to allot time for their employees to obtain their Cougar Card on the day of their new hire orientation. All Chartwells employees are welcome to contact or drop by the Cougar Card Office to get answers to any questions they have during the office’s normal business hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
