Office of Sustainability Listed as CEC Member

The University of Houston’s Office of Sustainability has been named a member of the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition.

The CEC is an alliance of diverse nonprofit, governmental, and educational organizations whose activities impact the environment and quality of life in the Houston-Galveston area. It has approximately 100 member organizations.

According to its website, communication remains the CEC’s mission through fostering dialogue and collaboration regarding environmental issues, and serving as an information clearinghouse for its member groups and the community at large through a variety of programs. The Office of Sustainability is listed in the 2015-2016 CEC Environmental Resource Guide, which is designed as an environmental information resource for the residents of the 13-county Houston region.

Sarah Kelly, program manager for the UH Office of Sustainability, said CEC membership will bring awareness of knowledge of the office to a wider audience in the city.

“More people in the city will know about us and the work we are doing,” she said. “We’ll be able to connect with more people, which could open more doors for the wonderful programs we are doing here at UH.”
