Best Guess Earns Lucky Student a Prize at Sustainability Fest

best guessDuring the annual Sustainability Fest at the University of Houston, members of the UH community had a chance to guess how much cardboard was sitting in the back of a Facilities Management truck.

Of the 58 people who submitted their best guess during the Dec. 3 event in Lynn Eusan Park, Jahaziel Carrera came the closest with his answer of 1,050 pounds. The actual weight of the bundled cardboard collected from various departments and buildings across campus was 987 pounds. The estimates that came in from everyone who submitted an entry ranged from 4.41 pounds to 7,050 pounds.

For his effort, Carrera received a $25 gift card from Facilities Management, which sponsored the contest.

The Sustainability Fest, which was organized by the UH Office of Sustainability, celebrated all the sustainable efforts happening on campus and provided the UH community information on how to live a sustainable lifestyle.
