new food truck padBy The Auxiliary Services Team

We’ve got some great news about the food truck program here at the University of Houston!

A new food truck pad (pictured in the photo on the left and as location "G" on the map below) has officially opened for business. The site – which is able to host two trucks at a time – is located on a small driveway behind the Technology Annex, directly across the street from the Central Plant.

Trucks will be serving the UH community from that location from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. To see which trucks are scheduled on any given day, make sure to check out the UH Dining website’s food truck page. In addition, the Friohana shaved ice food truck will be there from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The new location will help absorb the loss of the food truck pad that had been located along Entrance 14 adjacent to the Science Building. That location was able to host three pads at a time. Unfortunately, it had to close at the end of February to accommodate a major renovation project that is about to get underway at the Science Building.

The opening of the new pad site by the Technology Annex means the campus now has two food truck sites serving the campus community at least four days a week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are also numerous other locations that host trucks at various days and times during the week. It can be difficult to keep track of all of them, so here is a quick rundown of all of the food truck locations:

This site, also referred to as Pad 2, is located in a driveway directly behind Cemo Hall on the north side of the Classroom and Business Building. It can accommodate two trucks and is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Valenti School of Communication (Location "B")

A food truck is scheduled every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. directly behind the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication. Do you know where Wilhelmina’s Grove is located?  The food truck pad is basically sandwiched between it and the Communication Building.

ERP (C)

A food truck goes to the Energy Research Park every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It sets up shop behind Building 7 to serve all of the faculty and staff (and some students!) who are located over there.

Cougar Village (D)

Students who live on campus – or who are here late at night studying – can take a break and grab a bite to eat at one of three late-night food truck locations that serve the campus. One of those locations is just east of Cougar Village II, near the Student Service Center 1.

This location is open every night except for Friday. Hours all six days are 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. One truck is scheduled each night.

Cougar Place (E)

One food truck is set up four nights a week (Monday through Thursday) from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. at the Cougar Place residential community.

Bayou Oaks (F)

At the Bayou Oaks apartment complex, a food truck is scheduled to serve students Monday through Thursday night from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
