Steps in Applying

Applying to transfer to the University of Houston is the first step toward your rewarding future. Transfer students with fewer than 15 college-level credit hours will be reviewed as freshmen applicants.

First, be sure to check our deadlines and requirements. Then, take a look at our Transfer Student Checklist to see a complete guide to applying to the University of Houston.  Here is a list of the major documents that every applicant will need:

• The application. You may apply online using the Apply Texas Application.
• The $50 application fee. You may pay this with a credit card when you submit your application or send a check or money order to the admissions office.
• Your college transcripts. Please send official transcripts from all colleges and institutions previously attended. Electronic transcripts are preferred.
• Your test scores. If you graduate from a high school in a country where the native language is not English and you have not received an associate’s degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution, then you will need to submit TOEFL scores.

Please note that if you’d like to apply to The Honors College, you’ll need to submit a separate Honors application as well.

Admissions Appeals

If you have been denied admission to the University of Houston, you have the right to appeal by completing an appeal form and submitting a personal statement and two letters of recommendation.
