Welcome New Coogs!
Spring 2014 Registration for New Student Orientation (NSO) will open October 8.
Spring 2014 Registration for Advising and Registration for Transfers (ART) will open October 1, 2013.
New Student Conferences are designed to help students as they transition to the social, cultural and academic aspects of the university. We partner with family members during this exciting time in their student's life to assist them in understanding the experience their students are embarking upon. Entering a new community of scholars can be stressful and we're excited to connect students with resources that will aid in their success at the University of Houston.
This website contains information about our programs, dates and registration procedures for upcoming sessions, an introduction to the Orientation Leaders and other helpful resources.
There are two types of New Student Conferences:
If you are an incoming Freshman you will be attending New Student Orientation (NSO).
If you are in incoming Transfer student (with more than 15 hours of transfer credit) you will be attending Advising and Registration for Transfers (ART).
Family members and guests are welcome at all conferences and if attending will follow a separate schedule of events. Please note that Family Members attending with Freshmen will only attend the second day of programming and will follow a separate schedule of events.

Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination
Beginning January 2012, Texas State law (SB 1107) mandates that all entering students under the age of 30 provide a certificate signed by a health care provider or an official immunization record verifying that a student has been vaccinated against bacterial meningitis, or has received a booster during the five years prior to registration.
Students who have not provided documentation verifying that a bacterial meningitis vaccination has been received will have a hold placed on their account. The hold will be removed once official documentation is received by the University of Houston. A hold will prevent the student from registering for classes—registration takes place at New Student Conferences—so students must fulfill this requirement before or upon arrival to their New Student Conference.
Vaccinations will be available at the UH Health Center during New Student Conferences for a fee of $136. It is recommended that students receive the vaccination before New Student Conferences because the student’s current health care provider may be able to offer it at a lower cost. Upon administration of the vaccination, students should present the documentation to the Office of Admissions in the Welcome Center.
Please note: Students are required to fulfill the vaccination requirement a minimum of ten days before the first day of classes. Some conferences are less than ten days before the start of the semester. In this case, students must meet the ten-day deadline and the option to receive the vaccination at New Students Conferences is not available.
