Just like previous years, UHPD will once again have free hot dogs during National Night Out, which will be held in Lynn Eusan Park on Oct. 7.
The University of Houston Police Department will host National Night Out and Walk in the Dark activities on Oct. 7.
National Night Out will take place at Lynn Eusan Park from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The UH community is encouraged to come out and enjoy a free hot dog and a drink. Radio station KRBE 104.1 FM, along with other venders and other UH department representatives, will host tables. Departments and organizations that would like to have a table at the event should contact UHPD Officer Yolanda Edmund or Sgt. Dina Padovan at 713-743-3333.
National Night Out is designated to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Starting at 8:30 p.m., UHPD and the Student Government Association will hold Walk in the Dark. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate in this short walk around campus. Participants will look for areas in need of enhanced lighting, uneven sidewalks that may encourage a trip and fall, overgrown bushes needing to be trimmed to allow more visual coverage, as well as any other safety-related issues that need to be corrected.
