EXXONMOBIL COMMITS $325,000 AS MATCHING GIFT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON
Latest Grant Brings Total of Contributions to UH System to $13.6 Million

HOUSTON, May 10, 2007 – ExxonMobil has presented the University of Houston with a check for $325,099 to match $109,000 in gifts made to UH by the company’s employees and retirees during the past year.

The contribution comes as part of the ExxonMobil Educational Matching Gift Program initiated in 1962. It matches gifts to higher education on a 3-to-1 basis.

“These thoughtful financial commitments to our university from the people of ExxonMobil have been made even more significant by the company’s policy of so generously tripling those gifts,” said UH President Jay Gogue.

UH was one of 80 colleges and universities in Texas receiving these grants from the ExxonMobil Foundation this year. All told, nearly $7 million was awarded to these institutions across the state.

“The success of ExxonMobil’s Educational Matching Gift Program is a testament to our employees’ deep commitment to education,” said Kenneth P. Cohen, vice president for public affairs, ExxonMobil Corporation, and chairman, ExxonMobil Foundation. “By supporting institutions of higher education, ExxonMobil and our employees are investing in the development of new technologies, future leaders, social progress and economic advancement.”

To date, Exxon Mobil’s various contributions to the University of Houston System, including matching gifts, total $13.6 million.

Exxon Mobil employs approximately 850 UH System alumni, including Gerald W. McElvy, deputy manager, public affairs, ExxonMobil Corporation and president of the ExxonMobil Foundation, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UH in 1975.
