ALL UH SYSTEM UNIVERSITIES, TEACHING CENTERS
CLOSING DUE TO HURRICANE RITA
UH, UH-Clear Lake, UH-Downtown, UH-Victoria Shuttered At Least Through
Sunday
HOUSTON, Sept. 21, 2005 – The University of Houston, UH-Downtown,
UH-Victoria and the teaching centers at Sugar Land and Cinco Ranch
are closing at noon today (Sept. 21) in response to the threat of
Hurricane Rita. These facilities – and UH-Clear Lake, which
has already closed – will remain closed at least through Sunday
(Sept. 25).
All faculty, staff and students at these institutions must be off-campus
no later than 6 p.m. Wednesday. Only personnel specifically designated
as critical staff will be permitted access to these universities
after that time.
At UH, the students who reside on campus are being asked to evacuate.
UH officials are providing evacuation support for all students who
require it.
