To the University of
Houston students, faculty, and staff
Governor Rick Perry has included
all Texas public universities in his call for a State Day of Mourning
in memory of former president Ronald Reagan, Friday, June 11. This
includes for the University all nonessential personnel at the discretion
of their supervisors.
All university employees required to work during
this time will be provided an equal number of hours
(up to eight) of administrative leave to be used prior to the end
of this fiscal year.
Each faculty member will decide whether to hold
classes and will determine how to make up lost time as appropriate.
Announcements will be made during the Wednesday and Thursday classes.
Freshman orientation will take place as planned
on Friday. All academic advisors and personnel involved in the following
colleges will need to be at the university:
- Architecture
- Business
- CLASS
- Education
- Honors
- Natural Sciences and Mathematics
- Pharmacy
- Technology
- Office of Undergraduate Academic Development
and Retention
Also, the Testing Center will be open.
Please make every effort to minimize confusion for
our students and incoming freshmen.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jay Gogue
