TOP EXXON AUDITOR RECEIVES DISTINCTION
FROM UH’S BAUER COLLEGE
Gerald McElvy Earns 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award from Business
School
HOUSTON, May 18, 2004 – Gerald McElvy, general auditor for
ExxonMobil Corporation, was presented with the 2004 Distinguished
Alumni Award by the University of Houston’s C.T. Bauer College
of Business during its May 15 commencement exercises.
The award from Bauer College is the highest honor given to alumni
who are recognized for their service to students, faculty, other
alumni and business partners of the college.
McElvy serves on the Dean’s Executive Advisory Council for
Bauer College as well as the President’s National Advisory
Council at UH.
For nearly three decades, he has worked for ExxonMobil Corporation.
McElvy has extensive management, financial, and controllership experience
in the upstream, downstream, and coal and minerals segments of the
energy business. He was recently named Distinguished Alumnus by
UH’s Black Alumni Association. He holds a bachelor’s
degree in business administration (‘75) from UH. In 1977,
he obtained a master’s of business administration from the
University of California at Los Angeles, and he is a certified public
accountant.
Past recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award include Carl
Glaw, managing partner of Glaw, Londergan and O’Neil, LLP;
Michael Cemo, senior partner of AMVESCAP PLC; and Jim Wise, chairman
and chief executive officer of NeoStar Group, Inc.
