SUSPECTS IN AGGRAVATED ROBBERIES AT UH IN CUSTODY
Two Men Currently in Harris County Jail

HOUSTON, April 12, 2004 – Two suspects in a recent series of aggravated robberies at the University of Houston are in custody at the Harris County Jail awaiting trial.

Patrick Foster, 19, of Houston, was arrested by a University of Houston Police Department (UHPD) officer without incident April 1. Anthony Mareno, 19, also of Houston, turned himself in to authorities the following day after learning an arrest warrant had been issued.

Each has been charged with aggravated robbery. Bail for Foster has been set at $30,000. Mareno was denied bond. The men were arrested in connection with three incidents that occurred on the UH campus March 27 and 28 in which the perpetrators used a shotgun to rob two students and attempted to rob a third.

Working on information provided by the victims, UHPD investigators were able to identify the suspects and obtain arrest warrants.

For additional information, media can contact Lieutenant Rita Bazile, commander of the UH Department of Public Safety investigations division, at 713-743-0612.
